THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ADOPTING A PET
Associates in Veterinary Medicine & Surgery's goal is to place companion animals with responsible owners. Our first consideration must be for the welfare of the animal. Therefore, anyone wishing to adopt an animal must submit an adoption application for approval prior to visiting the animal. After your application is approved, a staff member will assist you in visiting with a pet during adoption hours.
Adoption Fees
Our regular adoption fees are ...
Current Pets
Before finalizing your adoption, we must ensure that any pets currently residing in your home have up-to-date rabies vaccinations and, if applicable, county licenses. This requirement applies to animals such as dogs, cats, and ferrets.
Unknown Backgrounds
Given that many of our animals have unknown medical, behavioral, and environmental histories, Animal Services cannot provide guarantees regarding their health, temperament, or eventual size.

We prioritize finding permanent homes where our pets can thrive. While the adoption process may seem lengthy, it's designed to enhance the chances of a successful adoption. Adopting a companion animal is a significant decision, requiring a substantial commitment to responsible pet ownership. While some animals may be ready for immediate adoption upon approval of the application, others may require additional processing before going home.
